Academic Overview

Saint Patrick School is committed to providing students, at every grade level, an academic environment in which they can learn and grow to their full potential, while developing a love of learning as well as developing themselves as People of Character.  As set out by the Diocese of Oakland our curriculum is rigorous to encourage higher order thinking skills, relevent to real life learning, and excellent in methodology as means to prepare each child for the future.  To this end, the focus of the educational program is on:

1. the development of sound basic skills;
2. the use of learning experiences which develop a positive self-concept within  students as life long learners;
3. spiritual development including a deep understanding of their faith and its ties to service; and
4. the provision of educational activities and experiences which allow each student to achieve academic excellence as his/her own ability level in a real world context.
   

At Saint Patrick School each student is expected to achieve at a level consistent with his/her God-given ability.  There is opportunity for instruction on an individual basis, in small groups and in larger groups.  A wide variety of curricular materials are employed to meet the needs of individual students.  A continual effort is made to establish independence in learning and to instill a joy of learning which will serve a student throughout his/her life.
